He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph S. Merrill and Pearl Merrill (Marsh); his wife Beverly Eide Cody; his son Randy Cody; his siblings, Clyde Merrill and Betty Dippre; and his half-brother Otto Merrill.
He is survived by: his former wife Elizabeth Saxby; his stepson Russell; his children, Luella Forholt (Jim), Clifford Jr. Merrill (Wilma) of Las Vegas, NV and Roxann Merrill (Charlie Longman) of Estherville; his stepsons, Russel Cody and Richard Cody of Estherville; and his stepdaughter-in-law Carol Cody of Estherville. He is also survived by many grandchildren, several great-grandchildren.
