It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Mary E. McPoland of Dubuque, Iowa, who passed away on July 28, 2022, at the age of 86, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Otto Schmerbach and Loretta Schmerbach (Wilwert); her son Patrick McPoland; her grandchildren, Zachary McPoland and Terry McPoland; her siblings, Robert Schmerbach (Dolly), Marvin Schmerbach and Shirley Meyer (Tony); her parents-in-law, William and Mary B. McPoland (McCabe); and her siblings-in-law, Janann McPoland, Joe Then and Joseph McPoland of Sherrill, IA..
She is survived by: her children, Mark McPoland (Jodie) of Epworth, IA, Lori Milledge (Gary) of Dubuque, IA and Jodi Warden (Douglas) of Dubuque, IA; her siblings, Reynold Schmerbach (LouAnn), Myrene Heiderscheit (Ed) of Peosta, Maury Schmerbach (Elaine) of Dubuque and Richard Schmerbach (Donna) of Oregon; and her siblings-in-law, Nancy Then of Dyersville, IA and Don McPoland of Los Angeles, CA.. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Dubuque or Dubuque Veterans Freedom Center in memory of Betty McPoland.
