He was predeceased by: his siblings, Norman Zeckser, Ellen Zeckser, Verna Zierke and Garnita Johnson; and his parents-in-law, Marion and Francis O'Connor.
He is survived by: his daughter Ann Henkhaus (John) of Sioux Falls, SD; his grandchildren, Peter, Joseph, William and Sarah; his daughter Ellen Tell (Cory) of Sammamish, WA; his grandchildren, August and Margaret; his great grandchild Zachary Zeckser (Laura) of Cedar Rapids; his brothers, Frank O'Connor (Robin), John O'Connor (Mary Beth), Jerry O'Connor (Mary) and Kevin O'Connor (Abbie); and also, Karen, Frederick, Gemma, Elizabeth and John Francis Leo. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
After it opened, he visited many families and then welcomed them every day they were open until COVID came.
In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Hospice of Dubuque, St. Vincent de Paul and St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.
