He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Hartman and Bernadine Hartman (Duschen); and his brother Walter Hartman. He is survived by: his wife Lois J. Rubie; his children, Ronald (Ellen Wolfe), Nancy (Keith Stocks) and Robert; his grandson Greg Hartman (Sarah); his children, Brian Hartman (Jerica), Holly Bries (Patrick), Jennifer Stocks-Candelaria (Tim Candelaria), Andrew Stocks and Kimberly Rizkowsky (Josh); his great grandchildren, Lydia, Olivia, Ava, Layla, William, Hailey, Tyler, Cora, Quinn, Hazel, Leah and Nicole; his brother LaVern Hartman (Mary); and his siblings-in-law, Fred Rubie (Doty), Jean Rubie and Gerda Hartman.
