He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Wilhite and Carrie Wilhite; his wife Darleene; his children, Vickie McDaniel, Jenni Pilcher and Johnny; and his brothers, Cecil, Orlan, Kenneth, Bob, Jim and Don.
He is survived by: his grandchildren, Amber Kline (Donnie), Caleb Pilcher (Kaitlyn) and Isaac Pilcher; his great grandchildren, Myles, Treyvan, Sage, Nash, Primrose and Emery; and his son-in-law Fred Pilcher. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial contributions may be directed to Anchor Baptist Church in loving memory of Merle.
