It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Kathryn (Kathy) Joyce Sciachitano of Des Moines, Iowa, born in Creston, Iowa, who passed away on November 5, 2024, at the age of 83, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Hazel Breese and Joseph Foley; her husband Anthony Joseph Sciachitano (Tony); her brother Larry Foley; and her siblings-in-law, Josephine Sciachitano and Clarence Gilkeson.
She is survived by: her children, Sheila Diane Sciachitano of Des Moines, IA. and Anthony Michael Sciachitano of Des Moines, IA; her grandson Nicholas Anthony Haag (Kassi) of Kansas City, MO; her brother John; her sisters-in-law, Alyce Sciachitano of Cedarburg, WI, Catherine Gilkeson (Shirley) of Johnston, IA and Mieko Foley; and her aunts, Virginia Shonehair of Altoona, IA and Lena Maroney of Pueblo, CO. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the Hamilton's Funeral Home (605 Lyon St, Des Moines, IA 50309). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 15th 2024 at 1:30 PM at the Glendale Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
