He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Schubert and Imogene Schubert (Fox); his sister Joyce Bolte; and his brother-in-law Harold Huisinga. He is survived by: his wife Cindy of Britt; his son Eric Schubert (Bobbye) of Grinnell; his grandchildren, Cathrine, Anna, Ella, Paul and James Schubert; his son Jason Schubert (Jennifer) of Matthews, NC; his grandchildren, John, Sara and Luke Schubert; his son John Schubert of Monroe, IA; his grandchildren, Wyatt, Isaac and Quinn Schubert; his sisters, Kathleen Huisinga of Plano, TX, Julie Goodrich (Dennis) of Ames, Mary Anderson (Michael) of Britt and Betty Schubert of Mason City; and his brother-in-law Al Bolte of Kansas City, KS. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
