Arlene Bertha (Leuenberger) Shindelar Obituary

Arlene B. Shindelar, 89, of Bettendorf, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2023 at The Summit of Bettendorf. Per her wishes cremation rights have been accorded. Private inurnment will take place at the Rock Island National Cemetery on at 12:00 p.m. on Thusday, June 1st, 2023. Arlene was born on August 3, 1933 in Fort Atkinson, IA to Monroe and Amelia (Fry) Leuenberger. She was united in marriage to Joseph Shindelar on June 15, 1955 in Spillville, IA. She was very proud of her nursing career.

Arlene a talented quilter, her quilts and teddy bears have been distributed throughout the country as gifts she would give to her family and friends. She was affectionately known as “Teddy Grams” by her grandchildren.

Arlene is survived by her loving husband of 68 years Joseph; children, Daniel, Ronald, Paul and Jolene; 10 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren. "
