He was predeceased by: his mother Mary Leden; his sister Cindy; his brother-in-law Ron Alms; and his father-in-law Merrill Blackburn. He is survived by: his wife Rev. Leila Blackburn of Belmond, IA; his daughter Sarah Scherger (Caleb); his brothers, Gregory Leden (Margo) of Rockford, IL. and William Leden (Karen) of Poplar Grove, IL; and his mother-in-law Betty Blackburn. He is also survived by eight nephews, five great-nephews and nine great-nieces.
