He was predeceased by: his parents, Norris Soma and Eveline Soma (Johnson); his sisters, Dorothy Barkema, Eleanor Pals, Muriel Durant, Betty Dorenkamp and Shirley Pals; his parents-in-law, John and Evelyn Watne; his siblings-in-law, James Beisner, Lyle Barkema, Alvin Pals, Duane Durant, Donald Dorenkamp, Arlen Pals and Sandra Soma; and his children-in-law, Marc Gabrielson and Kim Soma.
He is survived by: his wife Phebe Soma of Belmond; his children, Camilla Gabrielson of Belmond, Mark Soma of Belmond, Angie Anderson of Belmond, Darrin Soma (Jana) of Belmond and Kevin Soma (Angie) of Belmond; his siblings, Lois Beisner and Gilman Soma; and his siblings-in-law, Norma McNertney (Jerry) of Ankeny, Jon Watne (Bev Mosher) of Belmond and Ted Watne (Sharon Schmalbeck) of Belmond. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews, other relatives and friends.
