It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Debra McDermott of Atlantic, Iowa, born in Cedar Falls, Iowa, who passed away on November 26, 2021, at the age of 70, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Glenn E. Holmes and Mary Jane Holmes (Schwandt); her father-in-law John "Jack" McDermott; and her brother-in-law Michael S. McDermott. She is survived by: her husband John McDermott of Atlantic; her children, Mike McDermott (Liz Reid) of Atlantic, Melanie Gross (Justin) of Winterset and Mariana Freitas of Salvador, Brazil; her grandchildren, Cooper, Callie McDermott, Willa, Hallie Reid, Addison, Avery and Andrew Gross; her sister Doreen Schellhase (Ed) of Ankeny; her stepmother Freddie Holmes of Cedar Falls; her mother-in-law Mary Ann McDermott of Woodbury, MN; her nieces, Michelle Ervin (Keith) of Oak Creek, WI and Jennifer Buehner (James) of Battle Creek, MI; and her nephew Dan Schellhase (Ashley) of Ankeny. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation to the Multiple Sclerosis Society of Iowa and the Shriners Hospitals.
