He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John H. Bishop and Ethel Bishop (Echternach); his son Robert Bishop; his grandchildren, Calvin Bishop Dobson and Laurel Jean Bishop; his brother John Bishop (Marcia); his sons, Keith and Scott; his great-nephew Alex; his wife Carol Lynn; and his children, Jennifer and Phillip.
During his time at Iowa State, he worked with the Marine Biology Lab in Woods Hole Massachusetts, and was Program officer with the National Science Foundation Washington D.C.
