He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Bell and Hortensia Bell (Hammond); his wife Joneta Wheelock (Jonnie); his siblings, Laura Burroughs, Mildred, Paulsen and Kenyon Bell; his sons, Mark, Jim and Larry; his grandsons, Tom Bell Jr. and Mike Hanks; and his children-in-law, Gary Smith and Kelly Bell.
He is survived by: his children, Tom Bell (JoAnn) of Story City, Suanne Smith of Ames, Pam Hanks (Dennis) of Cambridge, Jacque Bell of Ames and Danny Bell of Ames; and his sister-in-law Ramona Bell.
