He was predeceased by: his parents, S. A. Lande and Clara Erickson Lande; and his daughter Debbie. He is survived by: his wife Kay Lande of Ames; his daughter Diane Merrill (Ralph) of Smithfield, Utah.; his grandchildren, Heather, Mandy, Anthony and Jeremy; his stepchildren, Alan Widener (Tina Ent) of Ankeny, Kim Thornton (John) of St. Louis, MO, Greg Widener of Ames and Mike Widener (Lonnie) of Boone; his grandchildren, Andrew Thornton (Nicky), Brian Thornton (Megan), Curtis Widener (Karrie), Amanda Widener and Austin Widener; and his great grandchildren, Avery, Aidan, Elliot Thornton and Grayson Widener.
Fred has asked in lieu of flowers please make memorials to Iowa State Athletic Foundation or a charity of your choosing.
