With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Hideo Kato of Hilo, Hawaii, born in Wailuku, Hawaii, who passed away on June 18, 2021 at the age of 96. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He is survived by: his son Kelvin Kato of Maui; his brother Richard Kato of Nevada; his sister-in-law Sumie Ni'i of Hilo; his granddaughters, Krystal Yamamoto of Florida and Kimberly Hara of Hilo; and also Sonja Faye Estrada Nakahara of Hilo. He is also survived by numerous nieces & nephews.
