He is survived by: his wife June Kiyabu of Hilo; his sons, Stephen Kiyabu (Sandy) of Torrance and Brian Kiyabu (Nalei) of Kailua-Kona; his grandson Franklin Kiyabu (Carmen) of Kaneohe, Oahu; his sister Juliet Mickelson of Kaneohe, Oahu; and his siblings-in-law, Roy Toma (Ann) of Hilo, Wayne Toma (Sandra) of Kaneohe, Byron Toma (Carol) of Hilo, Wendell Toma of Pahoa and Marilyn Sato (Charles) of Hilo. He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

He was a member of the Hilo Parkinson Rock Steady Boxing program, YMCA Parkinson exercise program, Senior Bowling League, Waiakea Senior Exercise program, Walk with a Doc, Hiroshima Kenjinkai and St. Joseph Catholic Church.
