He was predeceased by: his sons, James Earl Spires and Clinton Spires. He is survived by: his wife Ester Spires; his children, Vinson Spires (Marsha) of Waynesboro and Christine Smith of Statham, GA; his daughter-in-law Grace Spires of Waynesboro; and his sister Azleen Johnson. He is also survived by several grandchildren; several great grandchildren.
