He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Dale Sumner and Myrtle Elston Sumner; his stepbrother Duane Simon; and his sister Ruth Diebert. He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Troyer Sumner of Tifton; his daughter Karena Elizabeth Couey (Georgia) of Rome; his grandchildren, Zachery Nolen of Rome, Madeline Couey of Rome and Georgia; his brother Patrick Allen Sumner (Lois) of Colby; his stepbrother Lawrence Simon of Morland; and his nieces, Christina Price of Ashland and Lisa Ribble of Arlington, Texas..
