He was predeceased by: his parents, John Murphy and Minnie Lee Boston Murphy; his grandparents, Sidney and Annie Powell Boston; and his brother John Edward "Monk" Murphy.
He is survived by: his wife Lillie Ruth Handsom Murphy; his children, Willie Morris Mills (Gussie Newton) of Stillmore, Georgia, Tiffany Murphy of Richmond Hill and Eva Shawn Burrison (Elvin) of Manhattan; his grandchildren, Willie Jamar Mills (Kyna) of Atlanta and Kendall O'Brian Mills (Jana) of Statesboro, Georgia; his sister Margaret Ann Bright (Moses) of Swainsboro, Georgia; and his uncle Sidney Boston (Sallie Mae) of New York. He is also survived by 5 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, relatives, and friends.
