He was predeceased by: his parents, Brady Griffis and Clara Griffis; and his brothers, Donald Griffis, Joseph "Sonny" Griffis, Emory "Earl" Griffis and James Carroll Griffis.
He is survived by: his siblings, Shirley Griffis Shearouse (Carson), Aloise Turner Dowd (Glen) and Lamar Griffis (Dorothy). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
