Melvin Hughes Obituary

We are sad to announce that on August 1, 2023, at the age of 81, Melvin Hughes of Sharpsburg, Georgia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Lane Hughes and Ione Hughes; his former wife Joan Adkins Hughes; his siblings, Brenda Hughes and Ronald Hughes; and his stepchildren, Sherry Adkins Gossett and Gary Adkins.

He is survived by: his family Doug; his grandchildren, Dylan Hughes and Ella Gossett; his son Shawn Hughes (Tiffany); his son-in-law Jeff Gossett; his granddaughter Sydney Baker; his brother Steve Hughes (Saranne) of Cordele, GA; his nieces, Katie Purdy (Sam) of Cordele, GA and Sindie Bragg (Mike) of Bristol, VA; his nephew Russell Hughes of Rich Hill, MO; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Emma Bragg, Ansley Purdy, Landon Bragg and Walker Purdy; and his close friends, John and Patty Van Horn.
