She was predeceased by: her grandmother Linda Johnston; her parents, Dr. Austin Jacob Walter and Jane Ross Walter; her husband William R. Johnston of Amarillo, TX.; her daughter Mary Beth Castagnaro; and her siblings, Robert Walter, Margaret Wise and David Walter.
She is survived by: her daughter Melissa (Lewis Miles); and her grandchildren, Rachel Miles Sijacic, Henry Miles (Hank), Austin Johnston, Brooke Johnston and Hannah Johnston. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, Dr. Johnston requested gifts be made in her memory to Superhero Success Foundation, a nonprofit for kids with special needs where she served as Vice President on the Board of Directors.
