He was predeceased by: his parents, Evelyn Skinner Trapp of Virginia and Earnest Carlton Gaskins. He is survived by: his wife Lanita Hendley Gaskins; his children, Araisha G. Holloway (Shawn) and James Earnest Gaskins, Jr.; and his siblings, Ronny Gaskins (Jackie) of Nashville, Georgia, Sherry G. Pearson of Lakeland and Peggy G. Trout (Alan) of Nashville, Georgia. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
