She was predeceased by: her parents, Clarence Emmy Carlton and Leoma Taylor Carlton; her former husband Van Harold Murphy, Sr. (Jay Newton); her children, Jacqueline Murphy, Van H. Murphy, Jr., H. Wayne Murphy and Clark Newton; and her siblings, Earline Murphy (Everett), Wilma Goff (J. D.), Maxine Johnston (Oliver), Odessa Ricks (Bennie) and James "Buddy" Carlton.
She is survived by: her children, Linda Murphy Whitney (Bill) of Florida, Carlton Murphy (Marsha) of Moultrie, Kay Murphy Williams of Alabama and Cheryl Newton Murphy of Panama City, FL. She is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, thirty-seven great-grandchildren, ten great-great-grandchildren, five nieces and one nephew.
Due to Covid-19 concerns, a private family service will be held at Cobb Funeral Chapel.
