He is survived by: his wife Jeanie Dillard Mercer of Milledgeville; his children, Amy Smith (James) of Wilkesboro, NC and William "Billy" Mercer of Milledgeville; his sister Sandra Cooper of Milledgeville; his cousin Linda McBride (Pat) of Milledgeville; and his grandchildren, Matthew Lee Smith, Cathryn Smith, Harlee Smith and Bella Smith.
