With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Erma Dean Walter of Manor, Georgia, who passed away on September 17, 2020 at the age of 87. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Erma Dean Walter to pay them a last tribute.

She was predeceased by: her husband David Russell Walter; and her brother Gary Vanerwegen. She is survived by: her children, Russell Walter, Darlene McCracken (Earl) of Winston Salem, NC and Kathy Walter; and her siblings, Dixie Henry of Henryetta, OK and Jerry Vanerwegen (Gretchen). She is also survived by six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

“I have just read the obituary of your loved one, Erma Dean Walters, the widow of Dave Walters, the most fantastic blueberry growers in Georgia. My husband, Dr. Floyd Fuller Hendrix, Jr. was a fruit crop specialist at UGA for 32 years. He met and worked with both Dave and Erma Dean for several years. Floyd always praised them both, telling everyone they were the experts, not he. We spent a few weekends at their home where Dave prided himself on grilling steaks! If I recall, Dave was from MI.”
