He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilis Roy Tilson and Annie Mae Tilson Westberry; his stepfather Eugene Westberry; and his siblings, Evelyn Nix and Carlton Tilson.

He is survived by: his wife Patsy Tilson; his children, Tracie Gesselman, Amanda Sandau (Wade), Danny C. Tilson, Jr. and William Tilson; and his half-sister Terrie Westberry.
