With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Mattie Lou Chaffin of Jonesboro, Georgia, born in Ashburn, Georgia, who passed away on December 22, 2022 at the age of 91. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her husband John B. Chaffin; her parents, John Iverson and Mattie Mae Youngblood (Ashburn); and her siblings, J. I. Jr. (Ashburn), R. E. "Bobby" Youngblood (Ashburn), Sue Shaw (Tifton) and Edgar Wayne Youngblood (Milledgeville).
She is survived by: her children, Paula Ferguson (McDonough), Sylvia Oglesby (Fayetteville), Wanda Myles (Tommy) and Johnny Watson (Cherri). She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that Mattie's memory be honored by a donation to a local church and / or an act of kindness in your community.
