He was predeceased by: his wife Derah Carter. He is survived by: his children, Avery V. Carter of Greenville, SC and Merrinda C. Long of Atlanta; his sister Nancy Whitaker of Austell; his granddaughter Danielle Ridings; and his great grandchildren, Dallas Dark Porter and Aiden Kade Porter.
