He was predeceased by: his parents, William Jerry Head, Sr. and Theone G. Head; and his brothers-in-law, Allen Carter of Gainesville and Perry Whatley of Gainesville. He is survived by: his wife Lavinia Whatley Head; his children, David Head (Leslie Head) of Decatur, Laura MacElroy of Dunwoody, Sheron Hopkins (Rob) of Columbus and Georgia; his grandchildren, Andrew, James, Sarah MacElroy and George Hopkins; and his close friends, Lonnie, Alma Butler and Anne George.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Endowment Trust Fund of Gainesville First United Methodist Church, 2780 Thompson Bridge Road, Gainesville, Georgia 30506, or to the organization of one's choice.
