She was predeceased by: her parents, Newman Dunaway and Ola Gill Dunaway; her husband George W. Bruning; and her siblings, Willie Dunaway, Sue Dunaway Stafford and Verna Dunaway McCurdy.
She is survived by: her sisters, Ida Dunaway Read of Murfreesboro, TN and Martha Dunaway Adams (Bob) of Washington, DC; her sons, William Howard Bruning of Tampa, FL and George Thomas Bruning (Beth) of Franklin, TN; and her grandchildren, Will Bruning and Allison Bruning. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
