He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Estelle Hayes and L. Curtis Smith; and his siblings, Gene of Jack, L. C., Steve, Sara Haygood and Barbara "Babs" Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Christine Hanagriff Smith; his children, Stacia Smith, Stephen Smith (Wesley Crissman) and Mark Smith (Christy Smith); his grandchildren, Sabrina Farabee, Lauren Smith, Christian Jackson, Madison Jackson and Maxwell New; and his sisters, Carolyn Harris and Martha Lovins.
