He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Mamie Ruth Carver Byrd and Berry H. Byrd; his wife Lynne Barfield Patrick Byrd; his daughter Deborah Ann Butler; his stepsons, Dixon Patrick (Zelda) and David Mc Mains Patrick; his grandchildren, Sarah Crawford, Samantha Patrick, Brenda Patrick and Marlee Butler; his sisters-in-law, Colleen Barfield and Doris Byrd; his great grandchild Bailee Crawford; and his former wife Barbara Farmer (Bob).

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the DUMC Chancel Choir.
