He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Roe Hersey and Vivian Murray Hersey; his siblings, Buddy Hersey, Chester Hersey and Wanell Heape; his wife Betty Dale Hersey of Douglas, GA; his sons, Michael Hersey of Cairo, GA and Matthew Hersey (Jessica) of Statesboro, GA; his grandsons, Rhett Hersey of Statesboro, GA and Riley Hersey of Statesboro, GA; and his siblings, Deloris Strickland (J. B.) of Elberton, GA, Linda Gillis (Bouncer) of Phoenix City, AL, David Hersey (Barbara) of Broxton, GA and Howard Hersey (Diane) of Beach, SC. He was also cherished by nieces, nephews, cousins.
