He is survived by: his wife Mary James; his children, Amanda (Larry), Roderick James (Corissa), Dexter James, Winifred James and Reginald James; his stepchildren, Lenora Lewis (Timothy), Charles Ringo Maddox (Cheron) and Thydius Lanier Maddox; his mother-in-law Bertha Mae Benton; and his siblings-in-law, Linton Benton, Cornelius Benton and Althia Perry. He is also survived by sixteen grandchildren, eight great grandchildren.
