He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Emerson Rich and Hildegard L. Boeshaar Rich; his brother Kenneth Walter Rich (Elizabeth); his son-in-law Robert Williford; and his brother-in-law Col. Bryan W. Fleming.
He is survived by: his wife Mary Ann Rich; his children, Bryan Walter Rich of Clayton, John Emerson Rich (Wendy) of Winder and Shirley Ann Williford of Atlanta; his grandchildren, Stephanie Williford (Jose Porras), Robin Williford (Wes), Josh Williford, Camryn Hetzel (Michael) and Jacob Rich; and his nieces and nephews, Walter Rich, Maria Copeland (Ross), Susan Carr (Jimmy), Ann McClintock (Jim), Paul Rich (Kelli) and Mark Fleming (Ann).
