He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred W. Garland and Queen Pennington Garland; and his brothers-in-law, Richard (Georgeann) and Dan Helton. He is survived by: his wife Laura H. Garland; his son Bo; his daughter-in-law Sarah Garland; his grandchildren, Lauren Garland and James Garland, Jr.; his brothers, Fred Garland, Bill Garland and Lawton (Gwenda Garland); and his sister-in-law Sue Lane Helton. He is also survived by Numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial contributions be made to the Randolph County Animal Shelter, 104 Animal Shelter Road, Wedowee, Alabama 36278.
