She was predeceased by: her parents, James Odis Bates and Christine Holcombe Bates; her children, Martha P. Brandt and Michael E. Pointer; and her sister-in-law Myra Bates.
She is survived by: her son Jimmy O.; her daughter-in-law Sonya Pointer; her grandchildren, Steven Pointer (Karissa), Tracy Case (Chris) and Michael Pointer; her daughter Cristi; her son-in-law Allen Vetra; her grandchildren, Holly Langley (Trent) and Taylor Edwards (Amber); her son Robert Pointer; her grandchildren, Robin Pointer Cartrett (Mark), Timothy Pointer and Chelsea Pointer; and her siblings, Guy Bates, Donnie Bates and Caroline Porterfield. She is also survived by 16 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren.
