Zena Mae James Obituary

Zena Mae Brown James, 87, entered into rest Thursday, August 1, 2024.

Memorial services will be held from the chapel of Chance and Hydrick Funeral Directors on Tuesday, August 6, 2024, at 2:00 PM with Chaplain Christie McTier officiating.

Family will receive friends following the service.

Ms. James, daughter of the late Fred Brown and Evelyn Duncan Brown, was born in Muscadine, AL. She spent most of her adult life in the Augusta area. She loved making crafts, but had a passion for gardening, especially flowers. She loved and enjoyed her pets and other animals, caring for injured animals, doing many rescues for rescue groups. She raised two daughters practically on her own, being she was a military wife making her very independent.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Curtis Brown.

She is survived by her children, Pamela James (Jack Posey, Jr.) and Denise James; her siblings, Faye Brown Lambert (Bill), Doris Brown Barron Ewing, Jewell Brown Carter, Jean Brown Brooks (Jerrell), M. James Brown, Harlan (Taffy) Brown (Vonnice), Opal Sue Brown Hendrix (Mike), and Marcia Brown Boyd (Richard); her grand fur babies, Penny, Obi, Kayla, Rotten, Junior and Natasha.
