He was predeceased by: his parents, Alphonso Burke and Lessie Mae Orvin Burke; and his siblings, Paul "Buck" Burke, Sarah Varnadore and Betty Quinn.
He is survived by: his wife Mary C. Burke of Baxley; his children, Charlotte (Tom Rupnow), Rachael (Kevin Childs), Laura Burke Belue of Douglas and Philip; his daughter-in-law Peyton Shabott of Blackshear; and his siblings, Rhoda Warren of Baxley, Linda Inman (Bill) of Fernandina Beach, FL, Dwain Hutto (Carolyn) of Baxley and Jim Burke (Francis) of Fitzgerald.
In lieu of flowers contributions accepted to First Baptist Church and the David E. Burke Memorial Fund at St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
