He was predeceased by: his parents, James Bynum and Annie Carver Sayer; his wife Dorothy Harper Sayer; his son James David Sayer; his grandson Marc Shannon Sayer; and his siblings, Azalee Williams, Addie Ruth Spires, Christine Sayer, Annie Lou Bell, Bertie Standridge, Mildred Lankford, J. B., Robert, Noah and Starks.
He is survived by: his daughter June; his son-in-law Ronald Merritt of Ambrose, GA; his son Willene Sayer of Wray, GA; his grandchildren, Lee (Cindy Sayer), Trevor (Lisa Merritt), Gregory (Loran Sayer) and Becky (Steve Thompson); his great grandchildren, Rebecca Hester (Brandon), Wesley McDermitt, Marc, Macey, Rachel, Sophia Sayer, Jonathon, Joshua Sayer and Darby Merritt; and his sisters, Elrea McDonald and Louise Dowling. He is also survived by his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
