He was predeceased by: his parents, Samuel Leroy and Delia Amelia Cecilia Cheever (Letourneau); his wife Lois Bale; his siblings, Bernice, Eva, Mildred, Leonard, Warren, Cecil and Vern; and his daughters-in-law, Mariselle Diaz Cheever and Jean Alice Decker Cheever.

He is survived by: his brother Alvin Edward Cheever; his children, Kenneth Wayne Cheever, Richard Lane (Domitila), Randall Lee Cheever, Melvin Lynn Cheever (June Gershon), Betty Ann Haas (Bobby) and Robert David Cheever (Andria Otto); his grandchildren, Adam Leroy Cheever (Audrey Mae Hatfield), Kenneth Wayne Cheever II, Sarah Ellen Cheever (Juan Ochoa), Lawrence Matthew Cheever (Stephanie Osley), Jason Dustin Cheever (Mary Suzanne Rivers), Nathan Lee Cheever (Kaitlin Johnson), Nichol Marie Dulaney (William "Haston" IV), Rachel Suzanne Cheever, Jesica Marie Cheever and Esther Joann Santos (Luiz); and his great grandchildren, Paisley Dawson Cheever, Isla Rhodes, Juan, Derick Nicholas Ochoa, Colton Gabriel Cheever, Aubree Koribelle Cheever, Rowan Genevieve Cheever, Konnor Franklin-Lewis Rivers and William.
