He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Powers and Mabel Powers; and his siblings, Charles, Eugene, James, Juanita, Cecil, Ralph, Doris and Robert.

He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Powers; his children, David Powers, Carroll Phelps (Alex), Sherri Koons, Toni Elkins (Mark), Julie Nunziato (David), Stephanie Ickes (Justin) and Christina Fitzpatrick (Matthew); and his siblings, Eddie, Louise, Lucille and Joseph. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren.
