He was predeceased by: his parents, William Schafer and Flossie Schafer; and his siblings, Irene, Theresa, Edna and Bill.

He is survived by: his wife Judy; his daughters, Joanne Watson (Dennis) and Carol Corcoran; and his grandchildren, Rebecca, Laura, Heidi, Joy, Danny, Christine, Melody and Carrie. He is also survived by 25 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
