He was predeceased by: his mother Dorothy Schaeffer. He is survived by: his father Leonard Schaeffer; his wife Connie Schaeffer; his daughter CaryAnn Matson; his son-in-law Jeff Matson; his granddaughter Emily Matson; his stepson Richard Cardini; his brother Daniel; his sister-in-law Patty Schaeffer; his brother Dennis Schaeffer; and his brother-in-law Dr. Jerry Nadler. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Due to his untimely death, the family is requesting donations to MAAD, Mothers Against Drunk Drivers at Home - MADD.
