He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Sutphin and Helen Sutphin; his siblings, Jeanette Sutphin, Joanne Kovacs, Billie Cantrell, Richard Sutphin and Paul "Corky" Sutphin; and his granddaughter Melissa Ritchie.
He is survived by: his sister Jessie Ashley (Ron); his children, Mike Sutphin (Ruth) and Susie Robertson (Herb); and his grandchildren, John Sutphin, Zac Robertson (Sherie), Kristina Cole (Dee), Sarah Robertson and Braden Robertson. He is also survived by three great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
