He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, Paule Mowell and Lillian Mowell; his brothers, Harold Mowell and Eldon Mowell; his wife Thelma; his stepchildren, Tom Mowell (Brenda), Rita Mowell Davis (Charles), Brenda Mowell Louthan (Michael) and Lonnie Lee Mowell; and his grandfather Pawpaw. He was also cherished by seven granddaughters and eleven great-grandchildren.
