She was predeceased by: her parents, George Barnard and Mattie Crews Jones; her husband Edwin L. Simmons; and her daughter Julia L. Simmons Cox. She is survived by: her children, David W. Simmons (Karen) and Deborah A. Sheffield (Wayne); and her granddaughters, Sarah A. Villella (Joseph), Stephanie M. Oakie (Bobby), Jillian R. Palmatier (Rob), Karina D. Crews (Wesley) and Victoria R. Batten (Matthew). She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
