We are sad to announce that on April 5, 2020, at the age of 84, Gerard Rotonda (Daytona Beach Shores, Florida), born in Newark, New Jersey passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his sisters, Marie Negri and Anna Casola. He is survived by: his children, Jennifer Rotonda of Fairfield, NJ, Anna Marie Strand (David) of Chatham, NJ, Yvonne Smogard (David), Gerard Rotonda III (Edna) and Lauren Barbelet (Kevin) of Blauvelt, NY.; and his grandchildren, Jennifer Jones, Allen Jones, Michael Strand, Gianna Strand, Alexandra Barbelet, Stephen Barbelet, Joseph Smogard (Grace), David Smogard, Noel Smogard, Vincent Smogard, Chloe Rotonda and Charlotte Rotonda.

“It has been a year since my father died of Covid. 1 year later, I am in the hospital myself with Covid, pneumonia in both lungs and on full oxygen. I was isolated from family and just kept thinking how my father felt. I am recovering well, but he passed away. I continue to remember how he did what any partent would do to protect their children.
