He was predeceased by: his parents, John Alphonse Schnitzius and Frances Rose (Szymanski); his sister Clare; and his brother-in-law Bill Leap. He is survived by: his wife Loretta (NJ); his children, Kevin Schnitzius (Kim), Danielle Schnitzius Norwood (Charlie) and Mark Schnitzius (Marjorie); his grandchildren, Abi Schnitzius, Livia Schnitzius, Bryce Schnitzius, Chaeli Norwood Harden (Kevin) and Chase Norwood; and his great grandchild Kix Harden.

In lieu of flowers his family asks that donations be made in John's name to the Cancer Center of Merritt Island.
